Zelicious Scented Zelfs have arrived! A Review

I many as well just called this blog "Opps I collect Zelfs" at the moment as it seems to be all I blog about. Hehe.

Anyway I went to Argos a few days ago and found these beauties!
Zelicious Scented Zelfs
Vampula, Chocolaa, Spellinda and Frostette
There are actually 6 to collect but sadly Argos on had 4 characters in at the moment. The main idea behind this wave is that they are scented and come with their own "mini" playset. (Basically a seat/stand)

There are 3 reoccurring characters from the first wave: Vampula, Spellinda and Buttershy as well as 3 entirely new characters: Bubblee, Chocolaa and Frostette.

They've had to change the shape of the boxes to accommodate the little playsets and in the UK these retail at £7.99 rather than the £5.99 we pay for the solo boxed zelfs.

The artwork on the back of the box is adorable as always. I really love the style they used to illustrate the Zelfs on the boxes as its just so soft and fun looking. It's a shame they changed it for the webisodes, but them I expect it's easier to animate that way.

Let's start with a little look at the ever popular Vampula who now has 3 versions.

First wave, Masquerade and Zelicious Vampulas
I've just started collecting the Masqurade Zelfs. I was originally not going to bother as I already had the first wave characters... and then I "accidently" bought Vampula anyway.

The interesting thing about the new Zelicious Vampula is they have actually changed the shape of her face now. Instead of having a pointed chin they have rounded it off and given her a cat smile which I actually think looks a lot cuter.

She also has some leaves growing out of the top of her head to show she is now strawberry themed. I can just about make out the smell of strawberries on her but for the most part she just smells of really strong vinyl. They have given her an extra tuft of green in her hair and dipped her feet as well as changing her pattern slightly.

These photos really show the upgrade in hair quality well. You can see the first wave Vampula is a lot more "bitty" in her hair. Vampula now has a strawberry on her bum to show her allegiance to the fruit world.

Vampula comes with a Strawberry well... which has batwings. I'm sure that makes sense somewhere. She can stand inside it and that's about as interesting as it gets. I wasn't too impressed with the well really, but then I don't actually play with the Zelfs as intended so maybe it's just lost on me.

Next up is the "Mint Witch" Spellinda!

Mint Spellinda

She comes with her very own Mint Wheelbarrow. I actually prefer this to the well as I feel that if I was still playing with toys I'd probably get some more use out of it.

Mint Spellinda

Out of the 4 of the Zelfs I got however, Spellinda's wheelbarrow is the worst to get them to sit in. She just sort of has to laydown / sit up in it. It is cute though.

Anyway Spellinda like Vampula has a new green stripe in her hair as well as a curling mint pattern on her forhead.  The pattern has a changed to show just how minty she is including some stripes on her legs.

Incase you were wondering what kind of witch Spellinda is she now has a mint on her rear end next to the Zelf Z. As for her smell, she like Vampula has that over powering vinyl smell but it also has a slight fresh minty smell to it too. I prefer the smell of Spellinda over Vampula but neither really grip me.

Her face has remained pretty much the same in this version.

Now onto Frostette the Cupcake Zelf!

Frostette the Cupcake Zelf

I'm horrified to find out I didn't get front shots of her standing on her own without her accessories, but I'm too lazy to go upstairs and take another and then upload it on to Flickr.

Anyway this is Frostette and she is adorable! Currently one of the front runners for my over all favourite Zelf designs. She has an original facial sculpt which has 2 swirly horns on her head to represent dollops of cream. She also has sprinkle freckles across her nose and two different coloured eyes! Her left being green and right being blue. I love her colour scheme as there aren't many white Zelfs (I love white toys for some reason.) Even her art work makes me want to squeal.

I did laugh at her Zelf Power though.
BEHOLD THE POWER OF SUGARY GOODNESS!!!
Sounds like a superhero for people with low blood sugar.

Frostette the Cupcake Zelf

Frostette has sprinkles next to here Zelf logo on her bottom and has 2 of her limbs dipped in pink paint.

Frostette the Cupcake Zelf

She comes with a cute little seat and Cupcake parasol, which looks very cute! I love this playset most of all so far just because she can be displayed in it. Frostette sits in it perfectly.  Did I mention she is adorable?!

On to my final Zelicious Zelf - Chocolaa the chocolate Zelf.

Chocolaa the Chocolate Zelf

Here's Chocolaa the Chocolate Zelf. She is the only fully brown coloured Zelf currently out at the moment. (I believe there is a Brown Puppy called Chi on the way though.)

She has the awesome Zelf power of Bliss! Huzzah!

Chocolaa the Chocolate Zelf

Chocolaa has pink eyes and little open mouth which is fairly new the most recent waves of Zelfs. She also has her very own ear design and her body art looks like cake decorations dipped in chocolate. I personally don't think she is as cute as Frostette but I do find her general design appealing.

Chocolaa the Chocolate Zelf

She has little brown squares on her bottom next to the Zelf Z to represent chocolate.

Chocolaa the Chocolate Zelf

The inappropriate part of my brain chuckled when I saw her box caption. I won't go into detail.
Anyway, she comes with a little chocolate fountain which seems bit plain at first.

Chocolaa the Chocolate Zelf

Once I realised she can infact stand on the top of it, I liked it a lot more. It's the least detailed out of the playsets and the pink paint around the bottom seems a bit bland but I'll give it extra points for the display factor. It certainly makes her look more interesting than just standing or sitting on my shelf!

I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the final 2 Zelicious Zelfs, but I'm going to make a guess and say that I'll probably find Bubblee more interesting than Buttershy simply because she is a new character.

Anyway thanks for reading my review!
